Becoming the bird lady…

I’ve created a collage of the birds I’ve drawn this trip in London as well as a collage of the ones i drew last year. I’ve spent the last few months getting to know them, and they have brought me so much joy. 🐦🦆🦢🦤🪿🐦‍⬛

I’ve learnt to recognise their behaviour and their calls. I’m invested in their everyday lives and how harsh life can be for them. I’ve seen them nesting, I’ve seen them with their babies, and I’ve seen them lose them one by one. 💔
I’ve met many other bird lovers by loitering around in the parks. Londoners can be friendly and kind, if you know where to look.

The bird loving community lend their voices to the birds. Without them I wouldn’t have learnt as much. Education is key.  With my new knowledge I have passed on some wisdom to passerbys in the park who take time to observe and be interested.

I now understand the ripple effect and the importance of human connections if we want to create a kinder future. 🙏
