Sketch of the day no 175: Kip Kip the juvenile black naped oriele Oriolus chinensis

Kip Kip is a rescue bird. It fell out of it's nest and landed by the side of the pavement, half dead, tiny, scared. My sister in law rescued it and nursed it to health. It's now unfortunately domesticated but... Continue Reading →

This cow was roaming outside my house. However much we have developed as a nation, some traditions have yet to go away. This is a free range cow that lives in the Hindu temple not too far away. Maybe a... Continue Reading →

Sketch of the day no 171 in my art blog: Macaque Monkey ( Macaca fascicularis) from Botanical Garden, Penang, Malaysia

This is a crab eating macaque or Long tail macaque, very commonly found in Penang. The ones I've seen are not afraid of humans because many people feed them. They would just remain where they are and you have to... Continue Reading →

Sketch of the day no 166: Old conch shell

I would never buy or collect endangered shells but this one is really old. It belonged to my grandparents. It's really beautiful. The shell has a pitted design on the exterior and has a glossy pink interior.

Sketch of the day no 164: Lizard at Earth Lodge, Ulu Muda, Kedah, Malaysia

I think I mentioned I wasn't going to do any more lizard/creepy crawlies from Earth Lodge but this guy is so cute not to draw.

Sketch of the day no 163: Butterfly from Earth Lodge at Ulu Muda, Malaysia

Sketch of the day no 162: Green pill millipede found in Labu 1 cave @earthlodgemsia, kedah, #Malaysia

This little fella is a pill millipede. The millipede rolls into a ball when it feels threatened. Evolution served it well! It just looks like a round fruit. This was found in Labu 1 cave in Ulu muda, Kedah, Malaysia.

Sketch of the day no 161: Jumbo size jungle or forest gecko Earth Lodge Ulu Muda, Kedah, Malaysia

I found this fella in the bathroom of our room at Earth Lodge. He's longer than two loo rolls. The funny thing about it was he looked like one of those wooden carvings people put as decorations and that's what... Continue Reading →

Sketch of the day no 160: Lantern bug at Earth Lodge, Ulu Muda, Kedah, #Malaysia

This is such a funny creature. It's called a Lantern Bug. I think it's because the bug looks like it's carrying a red lantern ;p It was spotted on a tree at Earth Lodge, Ulu Muda forest reserve, Kedah, Malaysia.
