Baby animals born during lockdown.

These were painted at the begining of lockdown in 2020 when the general news was depressing until one day a baby sunbird was born on my balcony. It was this little chick that inspired me to start a series of paintings of animals born during lockdown. A bit of hope during dark times that miracles were happening all over the world. I found the stories online and I painted the baby animals. The duckling story was one that went viral about a flock of ducklings following their mother crossing the road but they all fell into the drain through the grills. They were all eventually saved by a good samaritan. The baby penguin one is about the zoo that allowed the penguins to roam freely around the grounds as the zoo was shut. They got to meet the other animals. Reading about all these stories made my lockdown period less sad.
