Happy Sunday!!
I’m trying out a Gouache portrait today. I’m finding faces really challenging but interesting at the same time which is keeping me going.

I imagine, but I was too little. Many of the wives were in “Purdah”. Isolated in the servants’ house behind our house. My mother would talk and cajole them to come out of seclusion while my father was at work. 🙂

The people around us growing up were like pillars from our childhood. Shah is lost likely dead but he must have an interesting family?

I otfen do. Particularly in the past 5-6 years when I was digitalizing 95-99% of my parents photographs, dating back to the 19th century. So Shah, my cook, was an important member of the household. he taught me how to walk, to speak Urdu (which I forgot…) He is most likely dead, he was a few years older than my father. I hope he had a good life.
