A reminder that despite pain and suffering there is a will to survive.
Sketch of the day in my moleskine sketchbook is of a Stray dog who came to my gate on my birthday and called out to me for help.
I was so distraught and heartbroken to see him so skinny and he had a twitchy shoulder. I went back to give him some food and water. After he finished eating, he left, never to be seen again.
I called my best friend who is an expert on strays and she said this is my birthday blessing.
I’m not sure what lesson I am to learn here but I could not take the dog in.

Maybe. Or maybe he is on a long journey and is already miles and miles away. Or he will come back when he misses you. Not just the food.

I’ve never seen the dog again. Maybe he will visit again when he’s hungry.

The lesson may be that there isn’t always a lesson?
Someone in need came to your door.
You gave him food and water.
And he left freely.
(And we know you don’t keep pets. That is a wise rule.
So you did what a kind heart had to do.
(“Gong he” is congratulations, isn’t it?)
