Mika needs to learn how to be accepted into the pack. She was adopted as a puppy and lived indoors but now that she is outdoors with the other 4 dogs, she doesn’t know how to play with them. She becomes aggressive and is a bully despite the fact that she is the smallest of all the dogs. Mika also likes to escape through the front gate. My friend decided to try putting a cone on her until she learns to be accepted into the pack and the cone also stops her from squeezing through the grill gate.
Any suggestions of her we can retrain her?

How old is she? Dogs are territorial. I think the best way is to take at least two humans, gather the pack, pet all, including Mika. Get the dogs close, while holding them. Praising them when they are nice to each other. Scold Mika, when she becomes aggressive. Have them play together. It may take a while. The important thing is that Mika should get rewarded for being nice and scolded when she’s aggressive. They are fast learners.

I think the cone is a great idea. By the way, we call it a Renaisance collar. Great idea. Smaller dogs are often the bullies.

praise her when she’s ‘good’ – if possible to be with her in the beginning when she goes outdoors and there’re other dogs?

I hope it works cos she is adorable with humans. She really needs to learn to play and not bully the other dogs.

Many small dogs are very aggressive and it can be difficult to learn them how to socialize in a good way. I think, that your friend found a good solution for now.
