It must have been so precious receiving mail though. I still love receiving mail in the letterbox. I found some letters my dad wrote to my grandmother when he was at college. Priceless!

Sometimes I think of an ancestor of mine who left France for India in 1794. Never came back. I imagine his mother writing letters that took 3 months to arrive. Her son writing back with a goose feather and the answer taking another 3 months. If the ship was not attacked by pirates or sunk by a storm. There has been some progress. 🙂
