The lotus design arrived in the imperial courts of Ottoman empire from China. They first copied and then made the lotus their own. You can see many lotus flowers in ottoman embroidery and iznik tiles.

Even more than tulips? What is the place of lotus in Turkey. In Asia I know. More or less.
