Yes, it is multi tasking but it also has a lot to do with southern or eastern concept of “time is a wheel”. Everything comes back at one time. where is the hurry? etc. So Time is “circular” because you can fill it and fill it with many things at a time and there still is space…Again, a westerner, I favour linear time for many things, but, being brought up in the southe and east i also understand the need for circular time sometimes. As usual: there never is on simple answer to any problem. And there are many solutions. 🙂
Ah ok I misunderstood your concept of circular time. I interpret en attendant Godot as circular time and what you described at multi tasking linear time
En attendant Godot? I have it no my re-read list, but I think you’re right nothing happens. Linear time allows only one event/activity to take place at a time. “Only one meeting at a time”. So it is sequential.and efficient because you focus on one task at a time. Circular time: you put everything “on the table at the same time” there’s no sequence. Typically, you have a meeting with someone. In circular time somebody interrupts. “just one minute. urgent. Ok. you attend the second topic. meantime the first one is waiting and listening and particiapting. then a third one interrupts, and everybody participates. disadvantage: the first one has lost time on his topic/issue. Advantage: everybody is now aware of everybody’s issues and can actually construct a group solution. 🙂 And you don’t need to do so many staff meetings. So it’s not like one is better than the other. Americans get crazy with circular time. 🙂 I… have used both professionally. Depends on the situation. 🙂

Circular time reminds me of waiting for Godoy when nothing happens or did it?
