Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of an old wooden Abacus. The original calculator. This used to fascinate me as a child. Many shops used this but it’s something very rarely used these days.
They use to use them in China when I first went there, and I was so intrigued by them and even learned how to use one (which made me respect the people who could whip out calculations with them!). Nice drawing ~ looks so real and historical.

I never knew how to use these, possibly only the first 2 columns.
It’s fascinating how ppl can use these and be superfast and accurate!
