Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is the famous Penang rojak, a local fruit and vegetable salad with prawn paste and peanuts.
This one is an acquired taste. The dressing is a sweet thick black sauce made with prawn paste, chilli and molasses. The fruits are normally sour mango, pineapple, cucumber, water apple, guava and yam bean but there are variations depending on the stall vendor.
Rojak means mixed in Malay.
I like this mixed salad but the prawn paste is a problem for me since I’m vegetarian.Β

Looks like you’re catching up with “homeland” food.
(I’m doing the same here. Catching with food you can’t find elsewhere)

Lol. I haven’t eaten meat for 25 years. Only by accident
