Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a wild heritage tree which was named after Penang. Locally known as Durian daun tajam. Durio pinangianus. The tree has pinky orange flowers and a spikey fruit similar to the domestic durian but there’s not much flesh for eating. It is the lesser know cousin.

If they were for sale in my local grocery I think I’d try this or the domesticated one. I eat camembert cheese and smoked whitefish and they’ve got an aroma.

They stink but this one is hardly worth eating. I don’t like eating durians, I’m a bad Penangite 😆

Does it stink like the fleshy Durian? They grow them in the Philippines, and they are a VERY acquired taste! — YUR
