Today’s sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is of a common bird in Penang and around Malaysia which is the House crow. Crows are really intelligent birds, resourceful and they have a good memory but they attack the other birds and can be real pests.
When my brother and I were young, he threw a rock at a crow but it wasn’t killed so it went to tell all its friends about us. For about a week, everytime we left our house, a few of them would swoop down from the trees to attack us. It was traumatising. Think the birds from Alfred Hitchcock!

Crows are extremely intelligent social animals, as your rock throwing story indicates, that live in family groups with strong bonds. I have read that younger crows that have no hatchlings of their own will take care of the hatchlings of their parents and other relatives in the flock.
They may even care for the injured. A few days ago I saw an injured crow on the side of the road with two other crows that appeared to be helping it get off the road shoulder and into the tall grass.
