Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is a bottle of Yeni Raki, anise flavoured alcoholic drink, made in Turkey by distilling grapes obtained during wine fermentation.
How to drink Yeni Raki?
It is consumed straight in a small glass or with chilled water. It is a must with meze, a selection of cold or hot appetizers like tapas, and is considered Turkey’s national drink. Yeni Raki is one of the most popular brands. You will see people drinking it at dinner in restaurants in Istanbul and around Turkey. Drink in a group, with friends, never alone 🙂

I was in Istanbul many years ago and loved the Raki- and loved seeing your drawing of it too!!

On mondays, I check my selected blogs’ weekly digests. Yours last. (Always save the best for last)
A nice selection this week from DJ’s to stoves and Raki. Thank you.
Do take care of your cold. British germs can’t be tough. (That is the reason for english-french wars for the past thousand years: to avoid each other’s germs!)
Be good. Or bad. Whichever is more fun.
Till next monday.

I’d heard about Raki. Never tasted it though. Did you bring a bottle home?
