La mer de glace (sea of ice) is France’s largest glacier measuring 7km in length and 200m in depth.
Our journey starts in Chamonix town where we took a 20 mins train ride up to Montenvers Alt 1913m. Then it’s a 2 min cable car ride down to a platform where we have to walk 420 steps down into an ice grotto. It’s not a long tour. The ice grotto is about a 50m loop. It’s quite spectacular to walk through the glacier. I thought people used to live in there but my brother just laughed at me. I failed to read the info. Lol
Back at the top, if the weather is good there are great views but it was snowing. The whole trip took us 2h 30 and it was free with our ski pass.

A propos (which generally means it has nothing to do with what precedes) I just sent you a couple of photos by Facebook. π Evidence of past discussions on “fat fingers” and “peugeot”. Let me know by blog if you’ve received them. (I seldom go to my FB!)

I have been a long time ago. Very beautiful. I used to go to the south of France when I was young in the summer. My parents would send me to stay with their friends to learn French. One of my favourite places in the world because of the good memories. X
