Kampung life. A batik painting I did as a teenager when I went to Bali. This is scene is of 2 women living in the village. They are Balinese women wearing sarungs and topless. I painted and drew a lot of people then. I don’t anymore.
This was done almost 30 years ago. My parents sent me to batik painting class and this is what I did. My mum was so proud of me she framed it up when we got home. I have this hanging in my room today as a reminder of the things I can achieve when I put my mind to it. I have never made another batik painting since that day.

Yes we were affected by the tsunami bali wasn’t affected. Different area. We weren’t badly affected like thailand because of the geographic location. My garden was flooded with fish and snakes but lucky not the house. Some wooden houses and cars along the coast were badly damaged.

I was just Googling Bali the other day. And, when I got to an interactive map I started looking for Penang. When I found it I then began to wonder how you might have been effected by that terrible tsunami back in 2004. Were you guys semi-protected by Indonesia? Of course it was a long time ago, but it was such a tragedy. Was Penang damaged? — YUR

I did four or five, and had them all until quite recently, but my wife disliked them, so alas they had to go. I have drawn painted made pots, and other such things throughout my life, but find it difficult to find the time for batik and painting with a full time job, reading writing and looking after my blog and Facebook pages. I get up at 6am and go to bed at 3am the next day, so am always worn out! Hope you are enjoying an un-taxing enjoyable weekend, best wishes and blessings, Charles.
