Kampung life. A batik painting I did as a teenager when I went to Bali. This is scene is of 2 women living in the village. They are Balinese women wearing sarungs and topless. I painted and drew a lot of people then. I don’t anymore.
This was done almost 30 years ago. My parents sent me to batik painting class and this is what I did. My mum was so proud of me she framed it up when we got home. I have this hanging in my room today as a reminder of the things I can achieve when I put my mind to it. I have never made another batik painting since that day.

The batik painting is quite popular in India too. It’s a part of our art and culture and this painting is used to design Sarees, kurti, bedcovers, etc. 🙂

I love the batik painting. I’ve only done one when I was in school, got it framed but never got it hang anywhere! I must find it soon x
