Weird isn’t it? A good example of cultural variation. Laughter is a universal and exclusive human trait yet it can mean so many different things. π

Wow miao tse tung must be ancient. Bless her. When our first family dog passed away, that broke my heart. It happens. At least he had a great life and we had time for him and gave him lots of attention and love.

Ya in japanese culture they laugh at everything. I use laughter to hide as well. It’s easier to avoid questions

That is the problem with pets. Their life span is so short… when they go it breaks your heart. (And no smile can take that away) Our current cat Miao-Tse-tung we “inherited” after my parents passed away. She is already quite old for a cat. Sleeps like 22 hours a day. But sweet. I don’t think we’ll get another after her. π

That is a very valuable skill.
Now I’ve also noticed (or maybe I’m wrong) that in some Asian cultures laughter or smile may be a way to hide embarassment. Not always, right? π π π
Any way… don’t let your heart break. You’ve only got one! he!he!
