Sketch of the day in my art journal is tikoy which is glutinous sticky rice cakes which are traditionally eaten at chinese new year. They are made as offerings for the kitchen god so that when he reports back to the jade emperor in heaven his mouth will be stuck shut and he will be unable to say bad things about the people on earth.

I really love this. I think the sketch and text as it appears in your sketchbook would make for a great placemat, or even something to transpose onto a chopping board!

What a funny story: stick his lips shut so he can’t report on the state of human kitchens. Ha ha ha!! Love it!
