#sketch of the day no 517 in my #artjournal: if I pretend I don’t see it, does it exist?”
That is so true. This is what the topic is all about. To discuss gender roles and equality for everyone, not just men and women. Our society is indeed changing. Or rather becoming more open. Roles are blurring and we have to be keep up with the times. Thank you for sharing! Hugs xx
Sarah’s words are refreshing because it’s a perspective I don’t hear as often, and I think there are a variety of opinions on gender equality. I would like to hear them all! This is an important question in my life right now, because my teenager does not identify as only male or female, but both, and sometimes neither. Learning to understand my child has made me realize that we need more equality than just for men and women, but also for all the others, who fall in between men and women somewhere… or maybe even off to the side somewhere. 🙂
I don’t think we have any idea what women can be. We have NEVER been allowed to BE. We are constantly trying to find out who we are and what we can be and society and the status quo continually tries to control us through poverty and violence and now media. The only ones who can turn this around is us. We have to stop trying to please others and start figuring in out WHAT WE WANT. That is not selfish, that is not evil or mean. Men do it all the time…the right to do what is right for ourselves has been taken away from us and we need to stop living for others or we don’t have a chance.
