Sketch of the day in my moleskine art journal is a traditional Salako tribe kampung Jantan wooden house. The wood is painted turquoise and it has a zinc roof. Most of the houses were painted bright colours. I sketched this last week but I couldn’t post it up because there was no network coverage.
We were staying next door to this house. Ours was bigger and had a concrete annexe. It had electricity and running water from the gravity feed. We slept on mattresses on the floor, kampung style, but we were really comfortable.

So true, I think that is why finding such people during travel (and just during life) is the best… Wish you happy and carefree days ~

and the people there have a sense of contentment rather than greed and materialistic needs.

There is so much happiness with simplicity ~ maybe because there is nothing else around to cloudy up the great feelings and atmosphere 🙂
