Hibiscus or locally known as Bunga Raya is Malaysia’s national flower. The red of the petals symbolizes the courage, life, and rapid growth of the Malaysian, and the five petals represent the five Rukun Negara or five principles of Malaysia.
- BELIEF IN GOD
- LOYALTY TO KING AND COUNTRY
- SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION
- RULES OF LAW
- COURTESY AND MORALITY
The red hibiscus flower features in the Malaysian Bank notes as seen below.

Thank you! Your comments mean a lot to me! I know what you mean about loving money, or rather design on bank notes! They are really interesting ;p

I love money! Don’t mean that the way it sounds (although that way’s good too) but the design of it, the color of it all often overlooked because of what the money symbolizes. This note’s a beaut and your hibiscus drawing really captures the big floppy petals.
