I’ve often used those for abseiling. I was told that the origin of the name was German for ‘Carbine Hook’ (the ‘haken’ got dropped) and they were first used to clip carbines to bandoliers.

My Client is called Safe Climbing and they teach and train people on climbing safety procedures. I don’t know the saying at all! Happy Easter!!

Who’s your client? Not sure if you know this one, “If you see red you’re dead.” That goes for carabiners and harnesses.

i wonder where the word “carabiner” comes from… In Italy, policemen somehow are called “carabinieri” 🙂
