Today’s sketch is a right handed experimental sketch of my keep sake cup which I use for my morning coffee. I wanted to see how I draw with my other hand. It turned out better than I thought it would. It is different drawing with your other hand. It feels less steady but more natural at the same time.
I decided to try this after reading Doron’s Blog. He sometimes draws with his other hand as well. It intrigued me and I had to try. I was going to do this before, but I kept forgetting, so finally here it is!
What do you think? Try it! 🙂

I possibly could be. Not sure. It feels strange but yet interesting, I could train the hand to become stronger. My right hand is not used to holding a pen!

Very interesting. I’m right-handed and when I try to write, never mind draw, with my left hand it comes out looking like a toddler’s writing. You draw so legibly with your right hand. So I’m guessing you could be considered ‘ambidextrous’ 🙂

Thank you for sharing your experience. I like the way you described it as releasing the inner self and child! I think I will draw with my right hand more often x

I’ve done this before and was very pleasantly surprised at the results. It is said to harness the creative you that has not learned the control of the favoured hand’s manipulation. A more real version of inner self. I suggested this to my best friend when a lecturer criticised her art work for lacking ‘life’. She resubmitted after swapping hands and the lecturer couldn’t believe she had achieved the aim when using her ‘weaker’ hand.
When tried with writing it is said to release the inner child. Quite a moving experience.x

I’m starting to think I’m not a real lefty!
