I’ve been painting, painting, painting. People often ask me what do I do. Recently, I tell them I’m an artist. (I’m moving away from the crazy bag lady, it’s becoming to be so last season!) The next question is what do you paint and what is your style? I giggle and answer, I paint animals and plants in a cartoon style because I am childish and still watch cartoons at my age. At this point, they move away when they realise I’m not a serious painter or artist. Such is the shallow world of art.
Well I like my art and that is the most important thing. It makes me happy. I just believe that if I don’t do the things that make me happy I will probably slide into depression and have a mental breakdown. But not yet, I’m still clinging on to positivity 🙂

Thank you for your supportive reply! I do feel better. I guess it is true. Adults do have prejudices especially where I’m from, we are a bit behind the curve when it comes to self expression. Sometimes I feel I have better conversations on my blog than in my real life 🙂

Your are a fabulous artist. We ARE our art and your work is fun, whimsical, bold, impressive and wonderful. That’s what you should tell the next person who asks. Just say that people love your work and it’s all of the above:)

Some people have funny ideas about art. Why should art be confined by boundaries? Isn’t being an artist all about breaking down boundaries, doing what we’re compelled to do by our own soul and not by convention, making things that mean something to us regardless of what other people think, expressing ourselves in ways that we can’t do with words? Keep on doing what you’re doing, it’s great. 🙂
I think those same people would respect your art more if they could see it, and it spoke to them directly. Rather than hearing the words “childish” and “cartoon” through the filters of adult predjudice they would be able to make up their own minds about your art. What do you think? 🙂

Paint whatever makes you feel happy, painting is very personal.
You put your feelings on a canvas.
And you paintings are so lovely!
