This is a crab eating macaque or Long tail macaque, very commonly found in Penang. The ones I’ve seen are not afraid of humans because many people feed them. They would just remain where they are and you have to walk around them. They live in the forests but they do come out to the nearby neighbourhood to scavenge for food.
