I spent the afternoon with friends, listening to inspirational talks by our country’s brightest and most passionate individuals who are changing Malaysia for the better.

WF-Malaysia screening of ‘Fish Listeners of Setiu’ a enlightening documentary showcasing the dying art of the ‘fish listeners’ of the Setiu Lagoons in Terengganu, Malaysia. The documentary features a unique traditional fishing method, fish listeners locate their catch by ‘listening’ for their fish; hunting by sound. Panel discussion for the documentary included Dain Iskandar Said, Director of the ‘Fish Listeners of Setiu’ and WWF-Malaysia’s Executive Director/CEO Dato’ Dr. Dionysius S.K Sharma.
Bobo (the resident toy dog at Leonardos) Talks is modeled after the Ted Talks and is inspired by Margaret Mead’s famous injunction: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.” Distinguished Speakers included: Dato’ Ambiga Sreenevasan (Bersih), Eddin Khoo (Pusaka), Dzameer Dzulkifli (Teach for Malaysia), Ee Soon Wei (The Royal Press conservation project), Goh Sze Ying (Better Cities Project), Professor Noraini (Sisters in Islam), and Ng Sek San (Malaysian Spring Project).
