IncrEdibles at Kew
IncrEdibles at Kew

I spent the afternoon at the beautiful Kew Gardens and had an Incredibles experience. The IncrEdibles is a celebration of the amazing bounty of the plant world. Being vegetarian, the promise of exploring edible plants drew me to Kew to feast on all the different plants!

First major disappointment. There was nothing I could eat, except in the restaurants. I guess if I really thought it through, it’s not very realistic to allow every greedy visitor to nibble on an edible plant. After this major disappointment, Kew did not fail to inspire me. I had an amazing day!

My favourite parts of kew:

1. The Palm House. ‘Built in 1844-48 by Richard Turner to Decimus Burton’s designs, the Palm House is Kew’s most recognisable building, having gained iconic status as the world’s most important surviving Victorian glass and iron structure.’

2. Temperate House. Twice the size of the Palm house, beautiful but less iconic.

3. Xstrata Treetop walkway. An 18m high canopy walk for a bird’s eye view of kew. The glass lift is also awesome!

4. The Rose Garden Tea Party. A giant Alice in wonderland style table setting with a display of beautiful plates and an array of edible plants

5. The small but cute marine species under the palm house. Loved the jellyfish

6. The amazing plants and flowers of course!
